Guess Which Celebrity Photobombed the Birthday Boy?!

today my wonderful husband turns 27! i am so grateful to have been celebrating birthdays with him since he turned 20!

this is an unflattering photo of the both of us (particularly me with devil eyes) on his 20th birthday when something very big happened: he gave me the very first bite of his birthday shake. this may not seem like a big deal to you but to him, he was very serious when it came to sharing his food, let alone giving away a bite before he tasted his meal.

i still cherish this gesture very much and we started going steady a few days later.

ryan avery 20th birthdaythis weekend we are in palm springs because ravery is keynoting district 12’s conference and we have been able to have the morning to celebrate!

the birthday celebrations actually started at 4:27am this morning when i purposefully drank a bunch of water last night so my bladder would wake me up so i could hang up this sign our hotel room:

ryan avery birthday time relationship blog travel palm springsthat’s marilyn monroe on the wall so when he woke up i said it all sexy like she did “haaappppy buuuuurthdaaay!”

i was a little bummed that i couldn’t bake him a cake or brownies or something but i did the best i could to make him feel special first thing when he woke up. i also got him a few little goodies and presents so he had something to open too.

since neither of us have been to palm springs, california before we figured we would walk from our hotel to downtown. this was a fantastic idea on the way there because it was only 75 degrees with a lot of shade. plus we found real life lawn chairs:

palm springs ryan avery travel lawn chairthe 2 mile walk back was a lot less because it was then 98 degrees before 11am…still we earned our breakfast!

we decided to try lulu california bistro and it was fantastic!

ravery’s birthday brunch consisted of steak and eggs (what. a. man.) he was very kind and gave me one of his eggs, hash-browns, and a piece of that toast-which was toasted to pure perfection.

travel blog palm springs lulu brunchbecause i knew of the hike back, i decided to carb load and eat pancakes:

relationship blog travel palm springs pancakes lulussee that peanut butter packet in on the right? well, i totally ate that as my appetizer with a fork before the food arrived. i have no self control when it comes to free food or peanut butter.

while those pancakes may look ‘normal’ they tasted exactly like funnel cake. i kid you not…they were some of the most interestingly textured (they were very dense and not too fluffy) and the flavor was all vanilla-y and funnel cake-y. if you go here-TRY THEM.

we had such a nice waiter who surprised ravery with brunch creme brûlée! the difference between brunch creme brûlée and regular is merely the time. as i was getting ready to take a photo of him, Meredith Scott Lynn decided to photobomb him!

ryan avery celebrity photobomb relationship blog palm springsyou may remember her from legally blonde

ugh. elle’s ex-boyfriend is such an ass.

she was very proud of her photobomb and we played it very cool even though i totally knew who she was. then they all wished him happy birthday and we had a dance party. okay fine…there was no dance party…yet.

more pool lounging for a few more hours until the conference starts- not a bad way to start off ravery’s 27th year!

the new wifestyle: do what you can to make your spouse’s birthday extra special, even when you’re away from home!

1) do you like to take walks around new cities you’re in or more of a driver?
2) favorite brunch dish?
3) if you could have a celebrity photobomb your picture, who would it be?

I love getting an early morning walk to find my sense about the hotel and new place.

The best brunch food: mimosas. OK technically a beverage.

Photo bomb celebrity dream: tennis guy Rafa Nadal.

good call kristi about taking those early morning walks to find your way around a new hotel-this one we were in was beautiful but so spread out that i still don’t know if i could find my room on my own! hah excellent answer for breakfast food consisting of mimosas (though hold the orange juice for me). i hope mr. nadal finds you for that photobomb!

    1) Love walking in new places (heck – any places). That is THE best way to slow down and get a look at and feel for the place. Sometimes these feet just get away from me – I started walking through a place out west toward a mountain one morning and only got through the foothills by night fall – wasn’t used to open sky country distances then)
    2) Favorite? A high degree of flexibility insures long term survival. I LOVE lots of foods! (for brunch or anytime… Hey, when walking long distances, it is a good idea to grab food whenever and wherever it is available) 🙂
    3) A celebrity photobomb? THE Ravery’s (too obvious a choice? 😉

so true that walking helps you slow down and take it all in-glad you didn’t get too lost during your open sky country walk 🙂 and yes survival particularly on those long walks-is very important when it comes to food-ha! ohhh john…you know we love to take photos but do know that our group name is Chravery haaa 🙂
