why, yes it is my half birthday!

yeah…you read that right. today, i turn 26 1/2 and yes my husband wished me a “half happy half birthday!” i’m not really sure why but i’ve been a little nerdily obsessed with half birthdays since i was one of those “i’m so funny and think i’m so clever” teens. there are a surprising amount of pictures of half birthday cakes (mama avery-when you read this…please do not actually make me a cake even though i know you would make me 2 in a heart beat! my mama-we can celebrate when you get here in a month!) here’s my birthday cake and please start calling me matthew. ha! just kidding but look at this gorgeous cake from “straight to cake” that i google imaged.

the new wifestyle HalfCake1i will most likely be doing half-celebrations all day (starting with my half waffle this morning-follow me on instagram @thenewwifestyle to see evidence). i will probably celebrate half birthdays with my future children as well and bake them less cute cakes than the one above. love new traditions.

on another completely random note because i’ve been going on 4 hours of sleep for the past 2 days…look at this sweet picture of my husband and the stray-d0g-my-in-laws-were-supposed-to-foster-but-instead-adopted-the-next-day, sugar (she also likes to be called shuga-shug, shuggabear, and einstein).

relationship blog chelsea avery ryan avery with sugarthey both popped up over the side of the couch because i was singing (maybe off key slightly) to billy idol. speaking of billy idol (just let me be tangential…it’s my half birthday people so i’m allowed to half do whatever i want) one of my friends (adam) didn’t KNOW WHO BILLY IDOL WAS??! what. 80’s english rocker? yes please.

Photo of Billy Idol

thank you “the eye of faith” for providing this incredibly sexy photo of billy!fun fact about me: billy idol totally kissed me. i was 16. and with my dad. i know…it really takes years to achieve my “rock star status.” he also looked sliiiiightly older when this occurred than what this picture

the new wifestyle: it’s fun to think about quirky ways to start traditions for your future family! and relieve rockstar dreams.

questions:
1) what fun/unique/quirky traditions have you started for your family (i need more ideas)
2) do you celebrate 1/2 birthdays or have you ever heard of them before?
3) let’s hear your encounter with a rockstar/celebrity…

I’m still discovering as we go along! But we have a birthday crown ordered from Etsy with child’s name on it! She feels special!
