We’ve Made it to Canada, Eh!

whew we have been going nonstop but having a wondrous time doing so!

Detroit, MI was some fun and a unique city to visit. it was interesting how intensely “automotive” it both looked and felt. we were staying downtown across the street from general motor headquarters and this is how they celebrate christmas inside…

relationship advice general motors headquarterswe then made our way to Grand Rapids, MI AND saw our first snowfall of the season! it was so magical and made my mobile christmas car even cheerier!

while we were setting up for our event there, my hands literally burned putting the frozen pipes of our backdrop together. my husband had a genius idea to pull out his gloves because metal that has been sitting in a car when it’s 16 degrees isΒ cold.

i obviously had to take a picture because he looked like he was at a crime scene investigation (though slightly overdressed for the occasion).

relationship advice grand rapidswe haven’t had a great opportunity to be exploring local foods because we are either grabbing something quick on the road or getting into a new city too late. Grand Rapids provided us an opportunity to eat a tapas bar downtown where they served pumpkin pie with pistachio brittle! it was amazing and i immediately had to send a picture of it to my grandpa because he’s the peanut-brittle-making-king this time of year! delicious.

relationship advice san chez tapas pumpkin piei am actually writing the blog post from Canada. i am pleased to say i have now driven in another country (thanks for keeping the same lanes and laws, Canada)

this is my view while i’m writing. Niagara Falls= mesmerizing and spectacular.

relationship advice niagara falls view at duskwhen it turned dark last night…there were all different colors of lights that showed off the water! it is really amazing. i was expecting a little more of a natural setting but instead there are bright lights, lots of buildings everywhere and more hustle and bustle than i was expecting. still gorgeous.

relationship blog niagara falls lit up at nightΒ we are here for events in Toronto and then the Waterloo area! we drive to Buffalo, NY on wednesday, where my husband flies to Portland to give a keynote on Thursday and i fly to C O L O R A D O for a short visit to see my parents! yayayayay! this holiday season is working out beautifully.

the new wifestyle: if you can find the humor and beauty in your surroundings-life will be much more fun!

questions:
1) a cold front swept through the US of A this weekend…what was the coldest temperature where you are at?
2) do you have a staple christmas treat that either you or someone you love is required to make every year?
3) ever been to Niagara Falls before? is it on your list?

So exciting! You’ve been in MY old stomping grounds Chelsea! that city across the river in Detroit is Windsor, where I grew up.
    1. We are having a SERIOUS cold snap here in the Vancouver area. It’s been down to -7 for about a week now. No precip yet so no snow. πŸ™
    2. Every Christmas morning I make eggs benny- I only do it on Christmas, Easter and birthdays!
    3. Have I ever been to Niagara Falls? I used to LIVE there! I used to ride my bike to go see the falls all the time. In fact, I used to ride my bike all along the Niagara River to Fort Erie. (where you cross to get to Buffalo)
If you get the chance, try to get to Niagara Falls on the American side if you want more natural beauty. go to Goat Island. It’s an island right in the middle of the river between the falls. it will knock your socks off. Avoid downtown. I always hated the commercial crassness of Clifton Hill in the Falls. I’m glad you got to see it though. pretty spectacluar, eh? lol
