The Best Place to Stay in Ushuaia, Argentina!
argentina has always seemed like a fun country – full of life, culture and cuisine! until very recently, i never thought i would venture to ‘the end of the world’ but alas, we are in ushuaia, argentina: the southern most city in the world!
i wasn’t sure what to expect at the end of the world. perhaps a big sign that said “careful, you are nearing the end of the world – watch your step!” but instead, i found this:
we had the opportunity to stay at what i am officially deeming ‘the best place to stay in ushuaia, argentina’ – Los Cauquenes Resort & Spa – Ushuaia. it is safe to say this has been one of the very best hotels my husband and i have ever stayed at anywhere!
not only does your hotel reservation come with free pick-up/drop-off from the airport (or transportation to the cruise port like us) but they go the extra mile with your name! this was a first for me and i fear i may feel disappointed when i land in new cities and no one is standing there waiting for me with a name sign.
also, the airport totally feels like a ski lodge. how cute is it!?
after a quick ride from the airport, you start to get that tingly feeling when you know you are about to encounter something special. listen to these tinglies because they know what they are doing!
sure enough, the hotel was gorgeous and the staff here are quite warm and welcoming. the only thing prettier than the hotel were the views from every single one of their windows!
you are greeted with champagne and then shown personally to your room – i love all the little extras Los Cauquenes Resort & Spa includes! plus free wifi (though a bit spotty in our specific room) is a huge bonus, especially for us millennials!
hello best view from our room EVER.
because i jumped on the bed and then somehow our suitcases exploded, the photos i took of our room didn’t turn out great. however, the universe works in mysterious ways because this is a photo of our exact room, facing the beagle channel, found on their website!
after jumping with joy for a few minutes (careful not to spill a drop of champagne) we set out to explore more of this gorgeous resort.
i took about 36 photos of this reading room because my husband and i decided we absolutely must replicate it in our future home. yes, we will also buy stock in windex.
as i mentioned in some of my instagram posts yesterday, yes, i basically walked around the hotel with my jaw hanging down thanks to views. they were unparalleled to anything my eyes have seen before.
they have a gorgeous spa complete with an indoor/outdoor pool (my husband’s personal favorite combination), two hot tubs and of course a whole list of massages to choose from.
we stayed out there until our fingers shriveled to prunes – aka just right.
though you could simply lounge around all day on the crazy comfortable couches with breathtaking views of ushuaia, Los Cauquenes Resort & Spa also offers experiences just for their guests!
because my husband loves to cook, i surprised him with a private cooking class experience with the amazing chef, pamela! she started learning english about a year ago so it was fun to help her with the english words for what she was trying to say and then her tell me the spanish translation too! my husband can speak conversational spanish but i know about 5 spanish words (two of those curse words) so i was highly impressed by the both of them.
she taught him how to make a king-crab salad, black hake fish and creme brûlée! though i could have participated, i enjoyed watching and taking photos (plus i didn’t want my hands to smell like crab. high needs, i know).
i was highly impressed and yes mom & dad, i did at least try a bite of each. i wasn’t into the king crab but i surprisingly really liked the black hake fish! my favorite quote from pamela was “you must add green to all your dishes because green means life.” when you come here, check to make sure pamela is here because she was superb!
my husband said making the creme brûlée was a his favorite. i think playing with fire had something to do with it too.
with our bellies full of delicious foods (they have won awards for it and i can see why), we walked down to the private beach that is on the property of Los Cauquenes Resort & Spa, where i proceeded to take my new favorite picture of my handsome husband!
as we walked along the rocky beach and looked at the crystal clear water, he remarked that it felt like we were on another honeymoon because of the romantic and intimate setting. i could only agree – it was magic.
the sun didn’t completely set until after 10pm last night – good work mother nature.
to top it off, breakfast is included with your stay and it is quite the spread of traditional breakfast as well as western eats for my limited taste buds.
now we sit in the gorgeous reading room, awaiting our drive to the pier to board our cruise to ANTARCTICA at 4pm today! good thoughts, good weather and positive vibes appreciated because i am feeling much more nervous today.
even if you aren’t embarking on a journey to antarctica, i would highly recommend adding ‘the end of the world’ (aka ushuaia, argentina) to your travel list. Los Cauquenes Resort & Spa is the best place to stay here and is not to be missed (obviously). happy thanksgiving friends and adios!
we were guests of Los Cauquenes Resort & Spa and all opinions are honest and my own!

it was about 40-50 degrees F while we were there! not too shabby but colder than buenos aires and warmer than antarctica 🙂
