Sometimes You Have to Have Donuts For Dinner in California!
we had a lovely day in southern Los Angeles yesterday. well actually it started out with me being moody and irritable (don’t you love when that happens ever month…i do in some ways because that means i have no baby inside of me. too much too early in the morning? maybe).
my mood was instantly lifted when we met one of my husband’s mentors, Chris, for lunch at Neil’s Grill on the Arroyo Trabuco golf course. i liked this man even more when he suggested we sit outside…isn’t it lovely?
here is a cute picture of the two of them! we had a great lunch discussion about our business, the tour and ways we can work on staying sane and also knowing we aren’t supposed to know everything right now. dang it. my husband did a great recap on his blog about it so check it out!
i also had one of the most delicious salads at this place that has ever crossed my lips. it had hunks of BRIE CHEESE in it! and sugary pecans. and chicken. and good lettuce. and fried wontons. it was incredible.
my husband rocked his back to back workshops last night and the night before (Phoenix, AZ we are coming for you tomorrow night…and leaving here in 3 minutes for our road trip because i’m getting the stink eye from someone who is ready to go now). we had a late dinner of burgers (maybe from in-n-out) and then we passed a donut store that was still open at 10pm.
we thought “hmmm either these are really going to be disappointing because maybe they are the same donuts from 10am this morning or they are going to be amazing since they are still open.” thank goodness they were amazing. my glazed donut didn’t look that appetizing but that’s what i was in the mood for and it turned out it had some vanilla flavors in the dough…whoa.SO good. i don’t know why my husband gets cake donuts sometimes…i never understand those. yet i still asked for a bite.
my future brother-in-law made a comment on this photo that i Instagrammed (let’s be friends on there @thenewwifestyle)Β that he wondered how we ate like this and didn’t get sick. here’s the key…we typically eat pretty healthy during our other meals, wash our hands and workout. we do a pretty good job of balancing.
last night we made a promise to push each other to work out this morning and i can proudly saw we did! we did abs together (ouch…no laughing today because it will hurt) and i also ran 3 miles. then some guy in the elevator asked me how far i had just run and when i told him 3 miles he said “oh. well i ran 4.” haha goooood for your buddy! showing me up and stuff. whatever. i’m proud of me.
i also had this and an apple for breakfast so you can see we get that balance in even though i really want to be eating more donuts (ignore the candy wrappers in the background).
with that…we are off on the road for the day, Arizona today and tomorrow and then headed to Florida friday for about 9 days! goodbye California-you’ve been good to us! bring on more sunshine!
the new wifestyle: life really is all about balance. when you splurge, don’t feel guilty. enjoy it and workout later!
questions:
1) raised donuts or cake donuts?
2) favorite kind of cheese on salad?
3) what workout did you do or are you going to do today?

1) Raised!!!!
2) ALL THE CHEEEEEEEEEESE!
3) Whatever our physical trainer says to do. So we could be pushing the sled, could be climbing a rope, will probably do some random thing on the rings. As Nick says, “Pick heavy things up. Put heavy things down. Go walk over there with that. Go stand over there like this.”

1) Either works for me…there used to be a bakery in Rogers City, Michigan that made Turtle Sticks. They were cream filled long johns with carmel, peacans, and chocolate. Oh, so good!
2) I’ll put any kind of shredded cheese a salad.
3) I was supposed to run 4 miles (4.2 actually) but skipped it this morning and got busy this evening so it ended up being a mile, walking the dogs. It was 32 degrees in chilly Eau Claire, Wisconsin.

um whoa richard. i now have to add “find turtle sticks” to my life mission-that sounds incredible!!! sounds quite chilly in WI but very happy to hear you braved the cold and made it a mile…much farther than those who sat on the couch at the end of the day. well done!

1) raised donuts or cake donuts? I’ve never had a cake one, so I guess raised? I feel like I need to get out there and try a cake one asap!
2) favorite kind of cheese on salad? feta or parmesan
3) what workout did you do or are you going to do today? I can’t believe some random person would try to show you up like that! I did a bit of rowing and walking.
I just checked your husband’s blog and championship video – wow! He’d be a great actor too. He must be great at telling stories about your travels π

haha yes corinne-you do need to try a cake donut…they are still tasty but by no means comparable to a delicious, fluffy raised donut! mmmm i forgot about parmesan cheese for some reason-YUM! nicely done on rowing and walking-i’ve never tried rowing but it looks super intense and like a great workout!
thanks for checking out my husband’s blog and video-he’s pretty good π we are having fun traveling around!

questions:
1) raised donuts or cake donuts? I’m a cake doughnut girl too… I’ve seriously been converted
2) favorite kind of cheese on salad? I love feta, I super love feta that’s been drowning in salad dressing.
3) what workout did you do or are you going to do today? Woke up with 15minutes of yoga, will lasso the canines and get out for a walk this evening too (hopefully).
PS: I love your “whatever, I’m proud of me”. That’s how I feel every time someone tries to correct my workout or my run.
