Tell Me Something Good – Husband Brag!

By  |  17 Comments

first of all – THANK YOU for being so excited about our gender reveal revealing a little girl! that was one of my top viewed posts of all time, which makes my heart feel happy that people are so excited for us and for her existence so thank you <3

my husband has been traveling again this week and this will go on for the next few months. as hard as it can be to say goodbye for a few days each week for both of us, he is doing what he absolutely loves (and is damn good at it). one of his main clients is a company called “vistage” and they are an executive/CEO mastermind group for small to large companies. they hire him to train these executives on his program “leading through storytelling.”

he was accepted as a ‘vistage speaker’ last year, after a grueling process of being rated (aka judged) by 5 executive groups. when i went online to their speaker’s application it says this:

“As a Vistage expert speaker, you become part of an elite corps of sought-after content experts. Only the best speakers, trainers and consultants – those who can consistently deliver actionable ideas and real take-home value to diverse groups of business leaders – are invited to become Vistage expert resource speakers.

that line of “those who can consistently deliver actionable ideas and real take-home value…” is a HUGE deal because he continues to be rated on a 5 point scale and if he (or anyone) drops below a 4, you are booted as a speaker. this is to ensure you are a high-quality speaker delivering high-quality content on a regular basis.

why am i telling you all this?

on tuesday of this week, my very talented and hard-working husband won “rookie of the year!” from vistage!!!!! they totally surprised him (he LOVES surprises) with a fancy award, some fancy snacks (which he said he is saving for me and the baby so jackpot) and poppin’ champagne to celebrate!

(i have no idea who those people are with him other than the fact that they are executives at big companies and now appear on my blog.)

Ryan Avery Vistage

this is a big freakin’ deal. this award is based on a new speaker’s “demonstration of exceptional commitment and success in joining the speaker network during the first 12 months and delivering the most presentations in the last year.” oh and you have to be amongst the top rated speakers and only one gets awarded! my heart is swelling with pride!!!

while he is naturally charismatic, the amount of work he puts in to continuously improve his craft of speaking, training and leading is like no one else i know. he is one of the hardest working people who is always receptive to constructive feedback and it makes me so proud to be his wife!

so yes, i’m taking this ‘tell me something good’ friday to brag on my husband because i don’t get to give him a big smooch until tomorrow (assuming he can get through all the snow we are supposed to get).

i also want to use this as a reminder to be vocal about saying how proud of you are of your spouse (or kids or friends or parents or coworkers) and the efforts and work they put into life. we aren’t guaranteed any minute except this minute so tell your spouse you are proud of him/her and celebrate both the big and small wins you each accomplish!

i haven’t seen this in person yet but apparently when we handle this fancy award, we should be wearing the white gloves that accompany it (what!?) i asked him if it came with a butler or anything but i guess it doesn’t so we will have to put it on the shelf ourselves.

Vistage

mr. avery, i am so proud that you are my husband – you are going to make such an amazing dad to our little girl! thank you for working hard to live the life you want while helping others do the same!

<end mushy love brag>

let’s here it – what are good things in your world this week??

Chelsea!!! What a great post! My tell me something good is a brag on my husband.. Last year he was the top fundraiser in Austin for St Jude’s and he is also out of town right now. Thanks for the reminder that we should tell family and friends we love them and are proud of them. My husband is an extremely hard-working, good-looking, and dedicated man. He is going to be a totally awesome Dad and I can’t wait to watch him develop that relationship with our daughter! Big UPS to Mr. Avery, a very impressive fellow in general.. but what a fabulous accolade!

Awww. You both are so sweet 🙂 Huge CONGRATULATIONS to Mr. Wifestyle! That’s an awesome award. It makes me want to buy why gloves and give them with gifts to people and say, “You have to wear these gloves when you handle this gift.” Like…. how many things in the world actually require gloves?? Haha!
Bavery is going to have an a.m.a.z.i.n.g. time during storytime with her daddy!

riiiiight?! those white gloves are like whoa. i really think you should start giving gifts with those attached to them audrey! DO IT!

i also got a little teary-eyed because you’re the first person to refer to storytime with dad and it’s just the sweetest because you are right – he’s an excellent storyteller! awwww!

ps. it’s my favorite when you refer to him as “mr. wifestyle” 🙂
