Tell Me Something Good Friday!

By  |  15 Comments

as i was driving to the grocery store earlier this week, a radio DJ was having people call in and tell him something positive going on in the listeners’ lives. it was fun to hear all the big and little good things that were going on in the world. it has inspired a new series that is going to happen right here every friday, “tell me something good!”

tell me something good the new wifestyle

if you are a blogger, i would love for your to link-up with me on fridays! if you don’t have a blog, i would love for you to comment on here and tell me something good that is going on in your life or you observed in the the world recently.

there are three objectives i hope “tell me something good” does:

  1. to have a collection of positive stories from people to demonstrate there are still many good things happening in the world, despite that it can sometimes feel like a dark, scary world.
  2. that it inspires us to be more observant to the big and small things – the good things – we see and feel in the world around us.
  3. it kicks off our weekend on a positive note!

oh and i hope that anytime you read “tell me something good” you say it like this:

my something good this week?

after i got done scream-singing to adele in the car (don’t pretend you don’t do the exact same), i arrived at the grocery store and observed something good happening. as i stood in line to check out, there was a young man in front of me, probably early twenties and he was buying a decent haul of groceries. there was a woman, about the same age, standing off to the side and giving him advice every now and then about coupons and how to handle his money. he had a developmental disability and she was balancing giving him his independence while also assisting him.

the goodness happened when the grocery checker lady started commenting on all the tasty food he was buying. he exclaimed that he was moving into a new home, all on his own but with some good friends – his first apartment! she got so excited for him (in a non-condescending way) and then reached into her drawer and gave him a $10 off coupon!

she then offered to him that anytime he had questions or needed help when it came to what to buy to help take care of his new apartment or really anything, she would be happy to help him.

the kindness exchanged between the two of them was so good and gave me the reminder that people are indeed still good.

on that note, tell me something good that you witnessed recently!

What a great idea for a link-up! I can tell you that with the grey skies of winter I get a bit pessimistic and find myself seeing the worst in people and daily life so this is a great way to see the positive.

What a great idea! And of course I was already singing the blog post title just like that! It seems that we had the same idea…I felt super whiny when I was trying to write a post for Friday, because wahhhhh I’m extremely pregnant, so instead of complaining I wrote five very nice things about my mother, who just celebrated her 60th birthday! That woman is the epitome of kindness!
