BIG Reveal – The Map to Dreaming BIG!

By  |  34 Comments

i’ve been dropping some hints these past few months about a super exciting project we’ve been working on and today is the day to reveal it! i feel extremely proud of it and thankful to be doing this with my husband!

we are calling it “The Map to Dreaming BIG” (and we’ve agreed for appearance purposes that i should capitalize it). this is a FREE resource to help you map out that crazy/exciting/scary/BIG dream of yours. we’ve used this in our own lives and will be using it this year for our own crazy/exciting/scary/BIG dream!

we recorded our first professional videos together and i didn’t freak out as much as i thought i would!

ryan and chelsea avery the map to dreaming big

if you’ve ever received an email or a card from my husband, it’s guaranteed to be signed with “dream BIG” at the end of it. to be honest, i used to find it a little cheesy and sort of just nodded my head whenever he told me to “dream BIG!”

my mindset started shifting around this in 2012 when i watched it come to fruition. this occurred after my husband set a big dream in motion of becoming the world champion of public speaking and asked me to coach him. let’s just acknowledge the fact that at the time, neither of us knew anything about public speaking and we’d never ever given a professional speech before.

after 8 months of solid learning, practicing, feedback and support, he beat out 30,000+ from 116 countries and became the youngest world champion of public speaking in history at age 25 (yes, it’s a real thing. i didn’t believe it when he first told me).

i could no longer deny the fact that when you set a goal, no matter how lofty and crazy and no matter how many people told you it wasn’t possible or had never been done before, BIG dreams suddenly became a possible reality for me. it wasn’t cheesy because i was a part of it and witnessed it first hand. i had to lay off the sass and the eye rolls because it worked. it changed our lives.

jowdy photography yes, i was so excited that i totally and completely missed his lips but a celebration kiss is a celebration kiss!

you can download The Map for free to get started on mapping out your own BIG dream! plus, after you grab the map you’ll hear what our next BIG dream is and how you can be a part of it (here’s where my anxiety kicks in because the dream is BIG, includes lots of travel and may involve penguins).

it addition to The Map, we have developed live trainings, which will be broadcasted online through 2015 where we show you how to take your BIG dream and make it real. plus, we have an online community for people who have/want the mindset of accomplishing BIG things because not everyone around us is of this mindset (and i wasn’t just a few years ago). once you’re a member of this community, you’re a member for life and it’s a place to share your struggles, encourage one another and get more strategies for how to follow through with your BIG dream!

maybe you have a dream to write a book, sail around the world, start a clothing company, run an ironman, start a non-profit or sing on broadway. whatever your dream is, it matters and the world needs you to bring your full self to the table.

we hope you find The Map helpful and will be joining us on the journey because the world needs more people, especially women, to dream BIG and more importantly, do BIG things!

i’d love to hear what your BIG dream is so be bold and share it! if you want to share on social media, feel free to use #dreambigmap!

This is incredible, Chelsea! You and Ryan are so motivated and generous- I think your speaking goal sounds wonderful! You guys are going to have such an amazing time accomplishing your goal!

My BIG goal is to open an indoor dog park & shelter (and daycare/boarding facility) in or near my small Ohio town. My biggest fears are raising/making money and the time commitment once the park is open. My entire motivation is to provide a happy, free-roam home for dogs prior to finding their forever home, as well as providing a safe, indoor park for dogs during the crazy midwest winter months. The park would essentially always have dogs in it during hours since the shelter dogs would be permitted to play and run around most of the day – plus paying park members would bring their pups. The entire operations would require a lot of land, preferably near a highway for good access, as well as a facility with at least 20,000 square feet.

I love the idea of the park but I’m still very very hesitant to move from “dream” to “goal.” (But then I see dogs that have sat in shelter cages for +3 years and I want to give them a happy life while they wait for their homes.)

yay! thanks for being excited and watching the videos, audrey! i’m excited about our goal but of course…nervous 🙂

i LOVE your big goal of opening an indoor dog park and shelter, audrey! your small ohio town neeeeeds it! it sounds like you’ve got a great vision and an excellent motivation for it. i’d encourage you to fill it all out on the map and see how you feel after that. i totally understand the hesitation but it also sounds like so many puppies would benefit too 🙂

This is amazing! What an amazing thing to go after your dreams, and see the hard work start to come to fruition! I really believe that there is nothing in life that compares to doing something that makes your soul happy, and it is so cool that you and your husband are doing that, and together!

If I were to dream bigger than I normally do, it would be to start the nonprofit I have had floating around for a few years. I’d love to connect girls in city high schools, with higher rates of drop out and lower rates of higher education to professional mentors, and college counselors to get them excited about their future, and the many careers they can go into.

couldn’t agree with you more about doing what makes your soul happy, shelby 🙂 it’s pretty great to start moving more into finding out what exactly that is and then doing it!

your big dream sounds incredible, shelby and so beneficial to the world! there’s a program in portland called “friends of the children” and essentially ‘at-risk youth’ get paired up with paid mentors when they are in elementary school and they stay with them until graduation! you could look to them for inspiration and how they run it to start considering yours 🙂

I just found out that the 2017 Toastmasters Convention is in VANCOUVER so I think I know what I want to do that year. Ahem. 🙂
My big big big dream is I want to walk the Camino with my daughter the year I turn 50 and the year she turns 12 to mark a rite of passage for both of us. 🙂
After that I’ll think up some new dreams.

this is so amazing guys!! 🙂 i’m not sure if public speaking is or would ever be my thing.. but I know it’s a good skill to have. my parents have done toastmasters before, and I had thought of joining at one point. 🙂 I love how you guys are dreaming big. I guess my big dream right now is that we can grow our blog to the point where it could fully support the both of us financially. 🙂

yeah…public speaking is quite the interesting mind game for the most part! i don’t love ‘public speaking’ but i do love being able to empower and encourage women so when i think of it in that way, it’s more motivating to get better at it! you should definitely check out a few clubs to see if they’d be a good fit, i know there are a lot in vegas 🙂
