8 Unwavering Things About My Husband

By  |  10 Comments

i have now spent 8 birthdays with my very dreamy husband, who turned 28 over the weekend. sometimes it’s hard to believe it’s been that long. of course we have grown, evolved, gained weight, lost weight, moved states, have new friends and now a dog but some things never change.

today he’s sharing a post about 28 things he knows for sure, so i figured i would share what has been unwavering about him through all of these birthdays.

1) he’s incredibly generous

on his 20th birthday, the first birthday we celebrated together (and a few days before we officially started dating), he gave me his very first bite of his birthday shake. this is not something to take lightly.

this year he shared his 12 (yes 12!) free donuts at pip’s original doughnuts in portland.

we also had a gift card for dinner and instead of us having an amount left, he gave a 40% tip to our waitress because she was super nice to us and he’s just that generous.

2) he’s funny

there is something so attractive about someone who can make me laugh and this is the guy! there is no one in the world i’d rather laugh with than him (throw back to his 21st birthday below).

3) he’s easy going and flexible

i am still trying to incorporate this into my life because he’s great at it. my husband has no problem going with the flow and adapting as things change. he’s happy wherever he’s at.

4) he’s appreciative

my husband is very vocal about sharing his appreciation and gratitude for all of the things he has in life. he is especially good about thanking everyone who makes his day even slightly better. he couldn’t stop raving yesterday when i told him i rented out the whole movie theater for his birthday (don’t tell him we were the only ones there to see “woman in gold” but it was really good so go see it)!

5) he’s understanding

this birthday, the vocal women webinar fell on the same day so i had to do about 3 hours of work (and across a plethora of time zones…this was just for the presenters!) he didn’t complain and when i got done with the webinar, he left me a note with some chocolate saying how proud he is of where this project is going.

6) he’s present

he’s fantastic at taking in the world around him and living in the moment. this is something i’m still working on but he makes it a point to acknowledge where he is. right after i snapped this picture this weekend, he proceeded to comment on how happy he was the sun was out, that his tastebuds could taste delicious tortilla soup and that we had time to spend just one on one on that specific day.

7) he’s always having fun

no matter the situation, no matter who is there, this a guy that can make any situation fun! take for instance when he picked up his very texan gift of meat from my in-laws…we get back to the apartment and he’s immediately putting dry ice in water and pretending to cast spells like harry potter. be still my heart.

8) he’s loving

there truly has not been one day since we fell in love where i have had to question if he loves me. through his voice, through his actions and through our connection i know he loves me to the core of who i am. he’s loving and doesn’t hold back.

happy birthday boo and i cannot wait to celebrate another 93+ birthdays with you!

ps. last year for his birthday we were in palm springs, california and a celebrity photobombed him!

haha thanks carissa jade! it was a fun one to right because so many things change but it’s also great to reflect on what doesn’t, especially when it comes to my husband!
