3 years of wifestylin’!

By  |  10 Comments

today is our 3 year wedding anniversary! i just woke up, silently crept into the office and belted out “HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!” to my husband. he responded with “dang it!” because i won. for every holiday, we have a little competition of who can wish the other one “happy <insert holiday here>!” first. i am still basking in my glory for nailing this one (the second highest ranking is christmas and he got both last year). today is going to be a great day!

i have no idea what he has planned except that i’ve got to be ready and out the door by 8am  so this is going to be a short and sweet post because i now have 17 minutes to get rid of my bed-head.

happy anniversary to the biggest dreamer/doer, kindest, most loving and almost-as-funny-as-me partner that still rocks my world.

wedding chelsea laughinglast year for our 2nd anniversary we played with a baby cougar so i shall be curious as to what shenanigans we will get up to this morning.

both of us with cougarplease prepare yourself for a oooshy goooshy love post later on a few of the lessons we have both learned over our 3 years of marriage and 6.5 years of being together.

the new wifestyle: there’s no “right-way” to celebrate your anniversary-mix it up and get a little wild.

questions:
1) what is one of your favorite anniversary memories?
2) have you ever gotten the chance to play with wild animals?
3) do you still have your wedding attire?

    1) We haven’t had an anniversary while we were both in the same country yet and we just got married April 3rd.
    2) I did. There is a place called Cleland Wildlife Park in Adelaide, South Australia. Its got kangaroos, wallabies, koalas, emus, etc.
    3) I wear it often actually. Our wedding got moved up a lot from when we were going to have it. So I ended up wearing that black and white dress that you saw at conference. I wouldn’t change it for the world though, I love wearing that dress often and thinking about that day. Wearable memories are awesome!

that is so neat that you’ve gotten to play with all those animals in south australia heather! loooove the concept of “wearable memories” and glad you get to partake in that more often than most brides-yay!

Happy 3 years! Can’t wait to hear what your surprise was.

    1) We just celebrated our 6 year at Disneyland!
    2) I had a summer job at Wildlife Safari in Winston, Oregon. Some of my favorite memories of that were elephant rides on my lunch breaks, behind the scenes in the bear huts & having a cheetah “show me who’s the boss” by gently clamping down on my calf with it’s mouth…then purring and rubbing up against me like a huge house cat!
    3) Thank you Space Bags for an affordable & space saving way to vacuum seal my wedding dress.

    1. You know, we have several anniversaries- the day we met- oct. 21, the day we married- April 9, and the day we married in the Catholic Church,-Sept. 5. This will probably sound disappointing to you Chelsea but we just don’t really celebrate our anniversaries in a big way and I’m ok with it. I mean, we talk about it and reminisce but no parties or cake and stuff. He threw me a surprise party for my 40th birthday though and that was pretty amazing. 🙂
    2. Are you kidding? Every day! I married one!
Seriously, I rode an elephant when I was about 4. Back before the wheel was invented.
    3. Yes, I still have my dress. My best friend made my wedding dress for me- it was kind of rennaisance style and yes, I wore it at my second wedding too- to my relief I was able to still fit in it.
(with my first husband, I threw my thousand dollar wedding dress down the garbage chute of my apartment building!)

that’s true…we have a few anniversaries too, which can also be fun when you aren’t really paying attention and then you are like “BAM! today is the day 5 years ago when you made me your emergency contact!” (we have a lot of those too). and i think that’s absolutely just as grand that you don’t make a big deal out of your anniversary-i think what works for the both of you is great! that’s amazing that your best friend made your wedding dress-very cool!
