Your Voice Matters – (and Could Be Worth $1,000)!
happy monday friends! i have to start by telling you how ridiculously good it was to have my husband home this weekend (and for someone else to make me food because cereal was getting real old). his mom and sister had layover here on their way to iceland (!) so it was fun to spend time with them too!
of course we had to start his birthday celebration since he turns 29 in a week! the birthday boy chose ‘the cheesecake factory’ because you can take the texan out of texas but…
okay – back to the point of this post…
i have some exciting things to share with you that do a number of things:
a) make me feel proud
b) could benefit you
c) will benefit a greater understanding of society
i have been working with the professional cleaning service, Maid Brigade for the past few months as a freelance writer as their official ‘relationship blogger!’ i still do a happy dance about this partnership because it’s awesome.
as i was talking a few months back with their VP of brand strategies, she started telling me about the consumer survey they conducted last year. as we got to talking, i found the results of it absolutely fascinating, especially when it came to how women vs. men answered. one of these questions was about if members of your family cared less about cleaning than the man or the woman and apparently women feel this a lot more.
she said for this year’s survey, they wanted to encompass much more about relationships, how things are divided between couples when it comes to not only household chores but also finances, careers, and raising kids. then she said, “why don’t you come up with a few questions and we will include them in the survey?”
i just about passed out with excitement – what a unique and awesome thing to be asked to contribute to! of course, i totally played it cool on the phone like “yeah, sure, of course, no big deal, i help national companies with their surveys all the time, ain’t no thang!” i guess those community surveying classes in grad school did pay off!
with that being said, i would love it if you took this survey, which takes less than 5 minutes to complete and you’ll be entered to win $1,000 in free house cleaning from Maid Brigade or the cash equivalent if they don’t clean in your area! they will do the drawing on july 1, 2016 and it is open to people all over the world!
sure, who couldn’t use some deep cleaning sessions (or cash money) and that’s a cool incentive but i believe there is something deeper here.
i am inviting you to take part in this survey because your voice matters and you get to contribute to a better understanding of how our thoughts and actions are changing with the times. i know there are readers here from all demographics but i also know my highest readership comes from millennial women and i am insanely fascinated about how we think of certain things (but people of all ages, men and women, please share your answers)!
one of my favorite questions in the survey has to do with who’s career comes first in your relationship – i am really looking forward to the results of that one. another question has to do with your love language and how you would most like your spouse to surprise you! of course some questions have to do with cleaning, who does it and how frequently but other ones touch on your thoughts on aging, what a home means to you and who spends more time raising the kids.
they will be sharing the analyzed results with me and i shall report back because it’s crazy fascinating.
click HERE to take the survey and have your voice heard! share your current thoughts how things work in your world, which will contribute to a better understanding of the world we live in!
i’m off to take teensy, tiny bites of the leftover cheesecake in our fridge so i can’t be accused of actually eating cheesecake for breakfast.
this is a post in partnership with Maid Brigade – thank you for supporting companies that support the new wifestyle!

I always find it fascinating how people divide these important issues since growing up I grew up with the traditional model even though my mom worked part-time. She did all the cooking and cleaning. For my husband and I, he works more so for the most part he does ALL of the cooking and I do ALL of the cleaning but sometimes when his work schedule gets crazy I do the cooking. Although we have more of a “traditional” model it doesn’t feel that way since there are times when volunteering makes my schedule crazy and he picks up the slack for me.

me too elyse! for me and my relationship – it really comes down to making the conscious choices together – so if the cleaning falls mostly to you and you are good with it – awesome and same with him for cooking! since i grew up in 2 households, it’s also interesting to me since both of my parents had to do all of it (and then interesting how it changed once they remarried). fascinating things!

That’s so awesome that they asked you to create some questions. You’re definitely well informed on relationship dynamics! I’m off to take your survey now (and crossing my fingers about winning that incentive, haha!).
