Tell Me Something Good – Another Baby In The Making!

By  |  26 Comments

i have such a grand ‘tell me something good’ today! i have actually known this bit of good news since superbowl sunday but haven’t been able to reveal it until now…

my sister kendal is pregnant too! she is growing bavery a cousin right this second! her husband gets full credit for this super cute and unique announcement idea:

better kendal and kyle

how cute is that?! she is due at the beginning of october and i’m due at the end of august so we are 5 weeks apart! our mom keeps saying “it’s like i’m having twin grandkids! i need two of everything!”

it was super fun to see her a few weeks ago – we spent time doing old wives’ tales tests about if we were growing boys or girls in our bellies! the verdict is still out on if those work or not but i am grateful to experience pregnancy with my sister too!

though i will say her skin is behaving muuuuch better than mine. the first trimester didn’t kick her down as hard, which i am thankful for because she is a school social worker and needs all the energy she can get!

i had this strange need urge to have the first grandkid – i think it comes with being the first born so i’m also glad i get to be 5 weeks ahead of her too 😉

so crazy to think that we are both brewing variations of these little kids, who also happen to be us! who knows if we will end up with both girls, both boys or one of each! it’s super weird to think about those little girls growing into women and now growing other humans – trips me out.

note: my stripe addiction started young and i would absolutely wear that swimsuit right now!

i wasn’t always the nicest older sister when we were growing up (one time i yelled at her to quit breathing so loud when i was watching diagnosis murder) so i’m grateful for this time to be a better big sister to her and share in our experiences together! so happy for you sister and bro-in-law!!! now to convince them to move from arizona to colorado and we will be set!

chelsea and kendal preggers!

with that great news, now i want to hear the goodness happening in your world!

Yay! Congratulations to your sister too! That is so cool to have kids and have them have cousins (did that make sense?) so close together! Your mom’s comment is the best, grandkids twins 🙂

Awww! Congrats to them!! That is so exciting- ‘twin’ cousins! Too cool and fun! Both Angel and I are oldest children and I totally thought we should have the oldest grandchild. Well we totally failed on his side since his brother now has a 2 year old but there’s still a chance to ‘win’ on my side….still a chance…

yay – i’m rooting for your chance to still ‘win’ on your side! i had some strong and somewhat shocking/surprising feelings around this last year when we were talking about procreation. glad it’s working out the way it is 🙂

What awesome news! Your parents must be SO insanely happy at this time.

I can attest to the awesomeness of ‘twin’ cousins since my cousin and I were born 5 days a part. It’ll be slightly different though than your ‘twin cousins’ since my cousin and I were always in the same class until high school even!

i think our parents have finally gotten to the ‘acceptance and excitement stage’ for us! haha it was shock when i told them and then a double shock when my sister told them (rightly so – so much changes and so quickly!) wow that’s pretty nuts that you and are your cousin are that close in age and then in the same class!

That’s SO exciting!! (And I totally get the “first grandkid” thing… I’m the oldest and my brother is getting married in July and I’m like, ‘What if they have kids right away??!’ Lol!)
I think it is SO cute that you guys are soon-to-be-mommas at the same time! What an amazing experience for you both AND your families!

i am happy to talk about those ‘oldest child’ feelings any time because they sort of surprised me when i heard my sister was ready before i was and had some intense feelings around needing to produce the first grandkid!

i’m also glad that we are still far enough apart that our parents should be able to make it to meet both newborns without fearing they would have to miss one or the other!

My mom is from a family of four girls, and three of them were pregnant at the same time! It’s only now that I’m realizing how cool and exciting that must have been, especially because it was the first birth for two of them! My cousin Mark was born mid-January, my cousin Laura was born mid-March and my brother was born at the end of March!

Your sister’s announcement is awesome. Such a unique idea!

yes my sister and her husband are super creative people – loved how they did it!

How fun that you get to go though this experience with your sister! I’m the only girl AND the oldest for my mom. But my dad as ALL girls, but I’m still the oldest there too. #NoPressure right? It’s so funny how we have that mentality that we should be doing all the things first.

it is pretty awesome! the pressure is so odd and for me it was this odd internal pressure that i felt i NEEDED. i didn’t love my initial feelings around it but then accepted that if she had a baby first, that would be okay. now though – it’s all working out!

That is so fun that you are able to be pregnant along with your sister. What a special experience. Me and my husband got to experience an orchestra concert for free last night and it was amazing. It is so encouraging that they are renewing their focus on making the arts accessible to people across the city, especially populations such as public school kids and the homeless.

I know what you mean about wanting to have the first baby- my little sis actually did that but I was kind of glad for her because she’s always been in the shadows of the family.
