Tell Me Something Good – Friendships

By  |  10 Comments

woohoo it’s friday, which means i want to hear all the goodness!

my “tell me something good” today is all around the events and friendships that i get to be a part of now that we live in colorado! i got to celebrate my mom’s birthday in person, which hasn’t occurred in 7 years!

not only that, but i got to see my aunties (aka fabulous women who were a major part of my upbringing) so double bonus! i totally scored a beautiful gift even though it was my mom’s birthday. winning!

aunties

i also got to see my dad a few times too last week, which my husband pointed out i have now officially seen my parents more since moving here weeks ago than i did all last year! that makes me feel good.

on top of that, i got to visit my soulfriend lindsey in her new mountain town of gypsum, colorado earlier this week! not a bad view AND this is steps away from her front door!

lindsey

sugar got to experience her first mountain-y adventure too! she loved it, obviously.

sugar mountains

if you’ve met our sugar, then you know she is aptly name because she really is just darn sweet! she has been around two little kids once when they came over for dinner but other than that, she hasn’t been around a toddler for longer than 2 hours.

i was feeling some anxiety about how she would handle 24 hours with a newly walking toddler (because we had a spend-the-night and watched “fuller house” and made two boxes of mac-n-cheese and then brownies #snapchat). i didn’t want sugar to get snooty with his petting and hanging around her since she happens to sleep 23 hours a day. great news – they both did so very well!

she loved that any time caleb came down from his high chair, he always had a new flavor on his face and hands for her to lick. we will have to work on her not french kissing babies all the time but other than that – now they are best friends forever. this is my new favorite photo of the two of them.

caleb and sugar

it was a good 2% prep of what life will look like managing a dog and a baby! but ya know what, if the tanner family can do it AND the fuller family can manage, then us averys will be just fine!

baby and dog

so there you have my something goods for the week!

your turn – what good things have you seen/heard/experience in the world? and for a bonus, have you seen “fuller house” and how are you feeling about it?

Aww, happy (late) birthday to your momma!
I LOVE seeing my dogs get along with kids! When my best friend brings her 1 year old over Enzo lays down near where she’d playing. (Lylee is a little bit rough, but it’s out of love. We’re working on it.)

It sounds like CO is treating you wonderfully!! I love those views & mountains!

i was SO relieved to see sugar not play too rough or get too annoyed with lots of work on the ‘gentle hands caleb!” she was a good girl and i love that your pups are good with them too!

i can’t tell you how happy the sunshine makes me!

I’m finding that now that I am married it has changed the relationships in my life a little, especially now that I have two families! It is easy to get caught in the newlywed bubble, but I am trying to be more intentional about reaching out to friends.

glad you are being more intentional about reaching out to friends – that is such an important piece of our lives! plus, time away from our husbands is a good thing because it gives us a chance to miss them 🙂

Lovely to see how moving to colorado has brought you closer to your family. Good times 🙂 my mum only live an hour away but I guess I don’t see her as much as I should. Note to self… visit mum more!

My something good this week was finally being able to reveal our little secret we’ve been holding onto following a 12 week scan. Oh boy is our life and marriage gonna get turned upside down now!! 🙂

yes – go visit your mama! oh wow! huge congratulations if what you are alluding to is that 12 week scan being a growing baby! i will have to go check out your blog and see! i also don’t think your marriage will have to be turned upside down -thank goodness we get 9 months to prepare, work on our relationship and prepare (the best we can) for the changes ahead!

A little late here…being closer to family and friends brings so many new/old/exciting emotions. Great for you guys to make that change in your life! And such a relief about Sugar around a young one…that must have felt so good seeing her (and the toddler) interact positively.

Have definitely scoped out Fuller House…it is cute, especially the youngest of DJ’s son’s 🙂

Something good for (last week): tried freshly squeezed apple juice…oh man. So delicious.
