Jewelry That Pairs Well with Donuts

By  |  17 Comments

now that i’m 28, i have a goal to look like i’m actually in my 20s and not in my teens and to me that means dressing a little more age appropriate. while i’ve been doing research on how to do this, i’ve discovered that most women in their 20s wear cute clothes and jewelry.

i’ve also found that many don’t eat a pb&j sandwich every day but i’m not going to change that (well, actually this month i am because my husband i just started the whole30).

chelsea avery bracelet

the coat i’m sporting is an impulse buy that occurred in the hong kong airport, 20 minutes before our flight left. it’s amazing what a convincing husband and the pressure of not making it back to your homeland can do for a sale!

please appreciate my more grown up coat for a hot minute and then focus on my arm candy because i’m obsessed.

chloe and isabel braceletmy friend mandi (we connected via instagram, i love the internet) is one of those fashionable 20-somethings. she’s always sporting amazingly cute accessories and the only accessories that i ever wear are my wedding/engagement rings and sometimes a silver bracelet. oh and my glasses. do those count?

not anymore though!bracelet chloe and isabelshe’s fantastic and we’ve partnered up (which to me sounds like we are either cowgirls or science lab partners) to bring the fabulous readers of the new wifestyle some amazing jewelry options! mandi works with chloe + isabel, a woman-owned company. the founder, chantel waterbury says:

It had taken me years to climb the corporate ladder and gain the skills I needed to run my own fashion business. I wanted to help them reach their goals, whether they were financial or skill-based. We can be her stepping-stone or her destination. Chloe + Isabel was created to be a brand people would love, and more importantly, an opportunity our Merchandiser could believe in.

i am all about supporting women who support other women in their goals and dreams!

be sure to like mandi’s facebook page so you can see all the latest jewelry that’s hot off the press (or wherever jewelry comes from).

more importantly, while you’re on that page send her a quick email with the secret code word “WIFESTYLE” and you will receive a FREE pair birthstone studs when you spend $50 or more!

Birthstones_Introducing

be sure to send the email before you place your order so she can verify and add them to your order!

i’m no fashion blogger but i figured i needed to capture the bracelet in action and what better way to do this than with a donut, right?

blue star donut

i’m sporting the ‘palm royale multi-wrap bracelet’ that can also be worn as a necklace because who doesn’t love options?! you can find it HERE (scroll down a bit and then order it so we can have BFF bracelets). the packaging it comes in is the cutest too.

donuts were part of our ‘last meal’ before the whole30 and portland has another new, very hyped up donut place called ‘blue star donuts.

blue star donut

we of course had to try the “hard apple cider fritter” which was decent but i’ve had better apple fritters around town and i can say that because i’m a donut snob. however, any donut you get with the word “buttermilk” in it will utterly blow your mind. best buttermilk donuts ever.

anyways, back to the arm candy. be sure to check out mandi’s shop on chloe + isabel and look around because they have a wide variety of incredibly fashionable bracelets/rings/necklaces/watches/earrings.

once you’ve found your new bling of $50+, send her a quick facebook message with the magic word “WIFESTYLE” to let her know you’re a reader and get your birthstone earrings for freesies!

then come to portland after march 2 and we will go get donuts!

chloe + isabel donut

please do use these links as they are no higher cost to you but we do get ‘credit’ and then i might actually be able to get my sister a real birthday gift instead of just coloring her a picture. i’m telling you, 28 is a turning point for me to start being an almost-grown-up.

questions:
1) are you good at accessorizing with your outfits?
2) have you done the whole30? send me recipes! or join us!
3) tell me about your favorite kind of donut (give me any raised donut with glaze or chocolate and i’m happier than a dog with a stolen sock)

*i did receive this bracelet for free for review but all opinions and donuts are mine.

First of all, I LOOOOOOOVE donuts. We have a grocery store here that has a.m.a.z.i.n.g. glazed donuts. I also like cake donuts with chocolate frosting and sprinkles. (Sprinkles are so magical on donuts and ice cream and cake and everything.)

I’m horrible at being a 20-something year old. I still wear Disney sweaters and jeans, t-shirts, etc. Sometimes I try to pull it together with a scarf. I’d say I accessorize like a 5 year old, but they even know how to pair a bead necklace and clip-on earrings with their outfits. I wear my wedding/engagement bands and (sometimes) the necklace my husband bought me for Christmas a few years ago. That’s it… My ears aren’t even pierced, haha.

you are so lucky you’re grocery store carries amazing donuts, audrey!!! jealous. ours only have so so ones that aren’t worth the money or the calories but thankfully we live in a city full of delicious food options! good call on sprinkles making everything magical-no truer statement has been made!

haha beaded necklace and clip-on earrings-love it! my grandma doesn’t have pierced ears either but she finds some killer clip-ons! my ears are stretched so i can’t indulge in normal earrings either.

isn’t that amazing, amanda!? i now have 2 pieces of jewelry in one! i am still hunting for the nail polish color. i think ‘essie’ is going to be our best bet but the ones i’ve found aren’t the right shade-either too light or purple!
i will keep searching because we need it. i just had to take it off this morning because it was getting too chipped and i shed a little tear.

I always thought fashion sense would come to me as I got older. NOPE. I try to concentrate on buying high quality pieces that last, but then I blink and all my clothes are still from Target. Oops. I agree though.. nice jewelry really adds a lot to even a simple outfit! And I love your coat!!

i totally thought the same thing courtney!! i like your method of buying high quality pieces that last longer-i do that with (some) shoes and (some) purses! it is amazing what some jewelry can do to change up your outfit!

May I also point out your lovely painted nails? That also counts as an accessory if you ask me. See, you got this, girlfriend!

ohhh totally good call, amanda! nail polish totally counts and i NEVER wear it (that’s still left over from my birthday manicure) so i’ll take it! i sadly had to take it off yesterday and now am on a mission to find the same color.

ps. eat a donut for me!

Turquoise is one of my favorite colors in jewelry. However, I have not yet reached the point in life where I don’t want to dress like a teenager. 😛 I love my clown clothes.

it’s one of my favorite too, rachel! i need to actually just put on the jewelry that i have (because a stash does exist somewhere). there is a trend i’m noticing where i’m half of the time a teenager still and the other half slightly more my age…key word ‘slightly.’

Your writing “voice” never fails to crack me up. Also, loving your coat, Olivia Pope! And I have to agree with Amanda…your nails totally count as an “accessory.” Fantastic color choice, by the way.

I’m OK when it comes to accessorizing. 98% of the time I’m wearing only my wedding bands. I also enjoy a good infinity scarf from time-to-time. If it’s a special occasion or I’m going out to a nice dinner I’ll put some effort into the accessories I wear. My latest “thing” has been layering different necklaces together. (Which I plan to feature on my blog soon/eventually!) Accessories are just too much work (much like makeup). I always think, “if men don’t have to do it, then why should I?” Culturally, why are women expected to wear makeup cute clothes, and tons of accessories all at once, all the time?

haha, too bad it’s not in white christina so i can be just like ms. pope! okay-we have 2 votes for painted nails being an accessory take it!

i have yet to invest in an infinity scarf but i always think they are super cute when i see them on people! excited to see your necklace layer-then i can incorporate that! i feel that way too sometimes about men not having to even remotely consider make-up or accessories but then i have male friends who wish they had more things they could accessorize with!
