Atlas Avery: Guest Post from Hawaii!
hi friends! my mama is letting me take over her blog today! have you ever heard of a baby blogger?! i really wanted to talk all about moana and the snacks i love and adore but she kindly suggested i also talk about the fact we are in honolulu, hawaii!
so, where to start?
well, the very best thing about this trip is that when we left for the airport, my favorite gigi was with us!
i’m obsessed with her, she’s the best. whenever she’s around, the only reason i go to other people is try to get closer to her. my own mother and father are solely a vehicle to get to her.
mother’s note: this is 100% true.
the airplane ride was SO fun! anytime i got a little too squirmy, mama pulled something new out of her magic bag! eventually, after enough wiggling, i got my very own tablet to keep me entertained! something about keeping my mom’s anxiety down or something…
we had to run run ruuuuuun between our flights. daddy carried me and he got so sweaty. they actually held the plane for us because 18 of us were in LA trying to get to honolulu. it was a good thing because my aunt ashley was on that plane so we could all fly together!!!! we were all very relieved and the adults had to keep talking about it for the whole 6 hour trip.
we made it to hawaii and technically this is my third time here.
the first time was inside mama’s tummy:
then last year, when my parents ran all the way from germany to meet us! talk about a throwback!
and now this time!
my mama doesn’t wear glasses anymore because lasers fixed her eyes. what is this world!?
my stroller and all of our bags didn’t make it though and that seemed to really stress out all the grown-ups.
i didn’t mind because that meant we got to go shopping at my aunt ashley and mama’s favorite store:
i got some new threads so i really didn’t see what the big deal was about losing luggage.
i don’t really remember playing in the sand or the ocean from last year so it sort of freaked me out at first. that song about ‘sand between your toes’ is weird because i really hate sand on my feet. it stresses me out even more than when mama hands me a broken cracker.
i was super brave (like moana) and eventually got in the ocean! everyone clapped for me so naturally i now love the ocean!
i made mama and dada happy by playing with them for a full 3.5 minutes before screaming and crying for gigi. the things we do for our parents.
i know this photo looks like i’m smiling because i’m with my parents but really it was because gigi was taking the photo. i love her sooooo much (and everyone else is pretty cool too but darn it i love that gigi)!
i do love hanging out with my aunt ashley too, she’s super girly (unlike my mama) so we really relate to each other.
it’s fun to hang out with grandpa too (especially because him and gigi always seem to be together)!
our luggage and my stroller finally arrived yesterday and my mama said it was like christmas morning! i thought christmas morning was better but i did find all the snacks she bought me and my moana dress so it was pretty great!
it’s a four hour time difference than when i’m at home (hiiiii shug-shug, i keep asking where you are!) so i never get to see the sunset but they show me pictures. seems nice.
today is my dada’s birthday! apparently he’s spent three birthdays here now so that seems pretty lucky to me. he’s the best dad in the whole wide world! i really love it when he dances and sings with me, throws me in the air so high that mama freaks out, and when he shows me how to dream big. i love you dada!
mama and dada keep telling me they are leaving for australia and i’m going back home and i’ll seem them in a few weeks. i don’t really know what this means but i DO know that gigi will be with me so that’s really all that matters.
it’s been a fun trip together! lots of laughs and snacks and outfit changes. i think i’ll probably come back here again!
thanks for reading my very first guest post! let me know if you want me to show up here more! see you later!

Atlas most definitely takes after her mom and dad when it comes to writing and telling a story! I was hooked! This Gigi character seems like a real gem!
Glad y’all FINALLY got your bags!! And yay for minimal airplane and airport drama. At least it all worked out in the end 😉 Enjoy Hawaii!! I’ve never been! Can’t believe Atlas World Traveler has been there THREE times!!!

Best blog yet. Atlas is a great writer :). That first picture of her looking up at Gigi is the sweetest thing ever. Leighton isn’t a fan of sand either but she has realized it’s a necessary evil to get to the waves. I can’t believe you will be in Australia so soon!!!!

Wow Atlas, you did a great job on the blog. I think you should have a turn every so often and maybe your Mama will print them and make you a book and pictures to rmember where you got your start as a writer. You go girl!!
