How to Be More Trendy with Accessories

By  |  11 Comments

fashion appears to come very naturally to some people…and i am not one of them (we know how i dressed in high school). i am not even kidding when i tell you that 3/4 of my closet and almost all of my jewelry is picked out by my mom. she is super fashionable! whenever i’m back home or she’s out here, we go shopping and our conversations go like this:

mom: “oh this is cute – try this on!”
me:  “ew no.”
mom: “just try it.”
me: “fine” and then i do because mom voice is a real thing. then i usually love whatever the item is. she’s good.

she also loves to put her family in matching sweaters:

she has an eye for fashion (those are the cutest matching sweaters ever) that they just don’t make a contact lens for – if they did, i would buy it. that is how almost all of my clothes and jewelry come into my possession. however, she lives 1,274 miles away from me so it’s not feasible for her to always dress and accessorize me (oh and i guess i’m 28?) i am often left to my own devices – until now!

as we know, there are a ton of subscription boxes for just about everything under the sun. i sort of rolled my eyes at most of these because i felt like no way would they be able to deliver good stuff to all these different people with different styles. this is where i was incredibly impressed with Rocksbox! want to be more trendy with accessories? hire my mom or check out Rocksbox!

for just $19 bucks a month, they will send you 3 pieces of hand-selected designer jewelry (that means it’s real cute and based on a survey you take so they understand your style)! AND you can send it back as often as you want in that month to get new jewelry! i got the hook-up for you for a FREE month to try it out – just go to Rocksbox and enter the code  newwifestylexoxo !

i emailed Rocksbox to let them know i had my high school reunion the following week and i wanted something “cool but not too cool…you know?” and then they did know!

i super love that necklace (by SLATE) and if it weren’t for being on a super strict budget at the moment (more on that later), it could have been mine for $34 instead of the retail price of $56. totally reasonable!

to be honest, i was hesitant that my stylist (you get a personal stylist!) would send me a massive colorful necklace or a super sparkly bracelet. i have to be in a very particular mood to wear colorful anything. give me all the grays and blacks, with a dash of cream and i’m good. that’s totally what i got and i was so impressed. i also told her in the survey i don’t wear earrings (gauged ears) and she heard that loud and clear to not ever send me earrings.

the ring is by kendra scott (apparently a fancy designer) it was unique and totally my style! the instant i put it on i was like “ohhh look at me!” it was $52. i just started typing on my computer so i could see the ring in action.

the bracelet was my jam too – chevron in silver? yes please. that one was $76.

yes, i have hair on my arms because i am a mammal.

when my husband was taking the various photos, he said “how do fashion bloggers take their photos?” and i said “well…they are always looking off in the distance at something way more interesting than the camera” so here you go:

i’m quite impressed with what Rocksbox features (and how everything is so cutely presented when it arrives to your door). plus, they give you free shipping there and back, with a label and package all ready to go. it’s super easy which is great since i’m super lazy sometimes, especially when it comes to making myself look less like a 17 year old boy.

use the code newwifestylexoxo to get a box totally free to your door now! happy friday!

where did you learn how to be fashionable?

Are we the same person? I usually let my sister and mom dress me since I just can’t be bothered and for some reason it ALWAYS works. I don’t usually wear jewellery because I have no idea what goes with what. I’m such a noob, but I love this idea! I’m going to check it out!

Woof. I’m still not fashionable… but you look great. I, too, have hair on my arms. We’re like mammal twins! (Oh man, “mammal” is a really weird looking word… I’ve never noticed that.) Just know you’re not alone in this strange, mystical accessorizing game!

god, I love jewellery. Wait, let me guess, they don’t ship to Canada- not even gonna ASK.

I learned how to be fashionable from What Not To Wear, I kid you not.
When I was young and rich I had awesome clothes, Then I went through this kind of slutty gypsy phase that lasted about 10 years.
That was followed by my fat frumpy overly modest phase.
Probably about 5 years ago I started to clue in again. I’m sure I’d dress better if I had more money. lol
itm, I still have this kind of gypsy feel about me with a tinge of slut thrown in on occasion and a tinge of conservative on other occasions.
Let’s just say I figured out how to dress for myself and the occasion.

hahha i am still laughing at your comment, paula! they are always my favorites 🙂 (ps. i’m so sorry. they don’t ship to canada yet. curse them!)

maybe i need to youtube some episodes of ‘what not to wear!’ thank you for taking me through your clothing stages…i hope there are some pictures of slutty gypsy somewhere along the way (i can relate to that for about 5 months in between my grunge and old man phase). so happy you’ve figured out how to dress for yourself and your occasion. you always appear quite fashionable!
