Breaking News: #AveryTour is in full effect!

as some of you may or may not know…mr. ryan avery (the husband) and myself are about to embark on a NORTH AMERICAN TOUR! i am pleased to say that as i’m currently writing this my anxiety levels are not off the charts and i’m feeling true excitement!

North American Tour Background Graphic

this is what we’ve been up to for the past few months while we’ve been in texas! it has been hard, stressful, exciting, overwhelming and fun. i also have to give a shout out to mr. ravery himself because not only did he have a vision for this whole thing…i was experiencing a lot of paralyzing anxiety in the beginning of this so he took on the reigns of organizing a lot of the little details.

i had developed a saying for him and typically his lack of ATD (attention to details) but he has really stepped it up and i must give him props for exercising the best ATD i’ve seen from this man since we’ve been together for over 6 years. of course there have been hiccups, mistakes made (like me spelling our business name wrong on the first few contracts-thanks for catching that Sandy!) and we still have a LOT to do before we leave but what i’m reminding myself to do is focus on the fact we are creating our own destiny and that’s thrilling.

Eventbrite - How to Make it a Great Speech

please register for a city near you immediately so we can be friends in real life because i imagine after 6 months of this i will be getting a little lonely! if you are looking for the website to send to all of your friends so we can make the workshop a massive party, here it is www.howtobeaspeaker.com/tickets

i know i know, russia isn’t north america but we leave for russia in exactly a week and are doing a workshop so they make the list. for the rest of the cities, we are typically flying into a city, doing some serious road tripping and flying out to another city. maybe i’ll include our travel schedule at some point but for now i’m pulling my hair out trying to sort out all those details. an example: we fly into raleigh, NC-do 10 workshops over 17 days and then drive back to raleigh to fly out to portland, oregon (!). total estimated drive time: 39.5 hours and 2,383. that’s the first leg out of 7!

here’s a little peek into the office where we work every day for entirely too late (but we often have our lunch breaks out by the pool so it basically evens out). my husband really does keep his desk this nice-it’s not even because i took a picture of it.

ryan avery chelsea avery avery tour NATmy area is in front of him to the left but slightly less organized. okay…actually disastrous is more accurate. in all fairness…this was when i was reconciling all my transactions between quickbooks and my bank and there may or may not have been yamhill valley pinot noir wine in that texas cup. don’t judge…it was after 6:03pm.

ryan avery chelsea avery avery tour NATit has been quite the adventure figuring out how to transfer our business from oregon to texas (or more accurately…dissolving that one and incorporating a new business here), how to teach myself accounting (numbers and i are frienemies), and balancing being married to my co-worker.

there has been a lot of growing, apologies, learning, and most importantly laughing. for instance, ravery came in a few days ago and said “chelsea! we really need those reports in STAT!” with a dressed poodle in hand. it was one of the more hilarious things to happen lately-well played sir!

daisybell bossso that is our breaking news…we are going on a North American Tour! we are thinking about using the “hashtag”- #AveryTour. what do you think? this would allow me to continue with blogging about our unique experiences and how it is being a wife on the road and managing a business as well as matching up to the tour and workshops my husband is doing. we are open to other suggestions (and thanks mary for the #AveryTour suggestion).

hope to see you there so we can hang out and eat cookies together!

the new wifestyle: as scary or as foreign as it may seem, you are actually in control of how you live your life and what your relationship looks like.

questions:
1) what city do i get to see you in? 🙂
2) how often do you dress up animals and giggle at them?
3) any tips you have for staying sane and healthy while on the road for months at a time?

PS. if you comment on yesterday’s blog post about being a ‘registered texan‘ you can be entered to win a little texan care package from moi! but still comment on this one too 🙂

We can’t wait to see you in Raleigh! When I was on the road all the time, the biggest thing was making sure to get in the workout at the hotel (either at night or am), especially since we don’t always eat right while traveling! I try to bring my own healthy snack so I’m not tempted. You guys are pros already at this though!!!

ps: I giggle at animals all the time. Whenever I feel the slightest bit down and I can’t get my to my own doggies, I just look at my cute animals board on my pinterest page and this makes me laugh: http://pinterest.com/koolkat1231/cute-animals/ Feel free to utilize this when you need to laugh as well.

Safe travels and looking forward to spending time with you guys again!!

    Hugs from North Carolina!

i also just spent entirely too long on your pinterest board (which i am now following) FILLED with cute animals-amazing. giraffes in sunglasses? classic.

SO Excited for the tour! I think hashtag should indicate NA somehow so you can continue to dream big and prepare for the World tour later (insert evil laugh here)
    1. San Antonio !
    2. Not enough!
    3. Great question! Make sure that you do a date night at least once a month, more often if you can.. Also remember HALT
When you or your partner are Hungry, Angry, Lonely, or Tired.. STOP and separate until one of those conditions is addressed then re-engage in discussion, you would be amazed at how much that can help alleviate tension!

yay excited to see you in san antonio jennifer! woohoo! good point about adding the NA somewhere in there-we shall play around with it. ravery originally wanted to started out with a “world tour-evil laugh here” but i convinced him we should nail down NA first 🙂

and wow! love HALT- we will absolutely remember that. i really reallllly like that! thanks for sharing it because i totally get real cranky when i’m hungry or tired!

I was thrilled to see you said “95%” because I couldn’t help but notice that a certain pretty-great city that you just discovered and where you have yet to try Oprah’s favorite ice cream wasn’t on the list! Louisville is the closest, but being early on a weeknight makes it unreachable for me.

    Cincinnati! Cincinnati! Cincinnati!

    1) what city do i get to see you in? 🙂
    See above! 🙂

    2) how often do you dress up animals and giggle at them?
Never, but I am not averse to staring at pictures of them for hours online.

    3) any tips you have for staying sane and healthy while on the road for months at a time?
Don’t rely on books-on-tape. They’re too long, generally (especially if you’re traveling as a twosome, which I assume you are). Podcasts are the answer! You can talk, then listen, then talk, then listen. Go to iTunes and download as many podcasts as you can from “The Moth”. Another really cool one is “Radiolab”. “This American Life” is great, but a little lengthy. Also lengthy, but pretty cool if you just saw a movie that is being discussed is “The Q&A with Jeff Goldsmith”. Just about every interview takes place in front of a live audience following a screening of the subject-movie and features Jeff Goldsmith interviewing the writer. Very interesting when you like the movie, but also related somewhat to the purpose of the tour! All of the above features factual information (real people, real stories, etc.). For a very cool fictional audio story (fully realized with actors and sound effects, etc.), check out “The Truth” (it sounds funny that this is the one fictional podcast in the group, but they really strive to tell stories that reflect life or people’s reactions to hypothetical (sometimes common and sometimes not) events as truthfully as they can). ‘hope you find some gems in there!

shooooot i wish i could say cincinnati is on the potential list…but not as of yet. maybe tour #2 🙂 because it did seem like a fun city full of great people! please see kathy’s link to indulge in a significant amount of cuteness.

podcasts are a GREAT idea! i hadn’t even thought of that-thank you! thanks also for the suggestions-ravery listens to a few and i need to get hip so thank you. i am really excited to check them out-thanks david!
