wow what a fun birthday i had yesterday! i have quick access to the internet while i’m on a ferry to Nanaimo Island in British Columbia (first time writing a blog on a ferry)! yesterday morning started off with a homemade chai at the home we were staying with one of the most spectacular views i’ve seen! check this view out!

newlywed blog vancouver BC watermy poor husband woke up feeling absolutely terrible but he still slipped me a sweet card right when i woke up AND he surprised me with brunch in the famed Stanley Park! we went to The Teahouse located right in the park and had a lovely breakfast-i indulged in some serious eggs benedict. it even came with a slice of watermelon!

IMG_4735they also brought me croissants with a candle in them and they were WARM! i ate one, then ate the insides of one and left the shell-it was awfully sneaky of me.

newlywed tips birthday croissanti am not sure how my husband still looks so handsome when he is feeling so terrible. impressive. behind us is beautiful water, sunny skies and barges!

newlywed blog chelsea and ryan avery vancouver bcyesterday was an incredibly beautiful day so we walked around Stanley Park and enjoyed the water.

IMG_4744Ravery taught a workshop yesterday in Vancouver and i am so proud of him because he didn’t even pass out (there were a few times where i was on the edge of my seat ready to attempt to catch his head before it hit the floor but thank goodness that didn’t happen). before he got started, part of the fabulous District 21 sang me ‘happy birthday!’ it was so sweet!

newlywed tips district 21 bc ryan speakingi also got to see a few of my fellow bloggers and friends AND both Paula and Vivien brought me birthday presents!!! how flippin’ sweet are they?! Paula and her daughter made me chocolate chip cookies and bedazzled me a card! Vivien introduced me to some tasty Chinese New Year’s treats and a sweet card too!

presents from bci was honestly so surprised, thanks for making my first birthday outside of the US so special!

naturally we had to take photos and Meaghan helped remind us that we should always be taking a ‘silly option’ photo too!

IMG_4765and here’s a nice one, including Vivien! side-note, my new goal is to get my curls to look like Paula’s-so pretty!

newlywed tips me wth the ladiesafter the workshop, we went back to the gorgeous home where we were staying and ordered some food so i could pump my husband full of NyQuil and put him to bed. somehow…he’s so crafty that he enlisted our new friend Annie and she went out and picked up a gorgeous birthday cake on behalf of him and they surprised me right before bed!!! i feel like a very lucky lady.

newlywed tips birthday cake surprise!it was a fabulous birthday and i know that because my 26 year on this earth was so transformative, i shall be in an even better place to take on the 27th!

the new wifestyle: birthdays are meant to be celebrated- enjoy!

    1) I love cheesecake! LOTS OF CHEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSEEEECAKE!
    2) Of me or Aiden? Usually we take them together. Daddy Nick seems to be allergic to being photographed.
    3) I like to go to a restaurant and order something I would consider WEIRD and something I know I would like. Gotta try new stuff!

ohhh you would have liked my bday cake then, Nick! it was super light and fluffy (even though it was 6 layers-ha!) how perfect that you and Heather can both partake in your favorite flavors for each other’s birthday cakes! that’s true love! sounds like that used to be some fun with your friends but also time for some new traditions for the next goround!

Wow Ryan delivers professionally and personally even when he’s sick! I’m glad you had a great birthday.

    1. Chocolate!
    2. I look silly in most of my photos (unintentionally)
    3. Ice cream! If I had to choose between beer and ice cream I’d choose ice cream! I like taking my friends to ice cream parlors on a Friday night.

Have you been to a Farrell’s ice cream parlor?

he certainly does Marc-it was incredibly impressive and i know for a fact i don’t think i couldn’t have done it! haha you don’t look unintentionally silly in your pictures-at least not in the little one i see on here!! i would TOTALLY choose ice cream over beer too-very good call! we have not been to farrell’s ice cream parlor before, is it in cali? i’ll add it to the list!

Glad you liked the birthday presents! So sweet Paula and Meaghan made you birthday cookies! 🙂

    1. Tough toss up between cheesecake and DQ Ice Cream cake. Ice Cream cake wins by the narrowest of margins.
    2. Last silly photo I took was when the famed Avery’s stopped by in town 🙂
